Recipes for babies finger foods please, not too fiddly to make, but tasty!?
Something suitable for a 10 month old please - that's how old he'll be when we go on a 12 hour flight. I thought that some tasty non-refrigerated finger foods and a jar or two of some sort of baby food would be good for his meals.
When I had my first, I got a leaflet of recipes from the health visitor, one recipe was a sort of scone crossed with a pizza and a chelsea bun, it was a swirled thing with tomato paste and ham in it. Another of his favourites was a cheese loaf. There were also date triangles. But I lost the leaflet ages ago, so I'll be really grateful for any nice recipes you can suggest!
No recommendations for shop bought products please, I live in Japan and they sell different stuff to the things they sell wherever you are.
Lightly toasted bread or bagels
Scrambled egg yolks (do not include the whites before one year of age)
Bite size pieces of cheese
Pea size pieces of cooked chicken
Pieces of pitta bread, naan or chappati
Tiny sandwiches, filled with soft cheese or mashed banana
Fingers of cheese on toast
Cooked pasta, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese
Overcooked brown rice - it's sticky and will "clump" together
Recipe:
Cheesy Vegetable Nuggets
8oz frozen broccoli florets
4oz breadcrumbs
6oz Cheddar, grated
2 1/2 tbsp water
2 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
Heat the oven to 375 deg F, 190 deg C.
Cook the broccoli, then drain and chop well.
Combine with the remaining ingredients and mix well.
Form the mixture into nugget shapes and place on a greased baking tray, about 3in apart. Pop in the Oven. Just try not to eat them all yourself hehe!
