What's the different between clay pots used in oven and clay pots used on stove.?
I know clay pots used in oven can be used to make bread. But what's the different when I use them to cook meat?
Mostly in their heat and thermo shock tolerance quality.
Most ovens operates under 500 F or 260 C and the heat works its way through the pot to the food by radiation, which is a slower more gradual process.
Fire or stove top elements can reach 700 F or 370 C and works by direct fire. Thus the pot must withstand the sudden temperature variance when certain parts of the pot gets heated very rapidly while other parts are still cold.
In general, stove top pot can be used in the oven but not necessary vice versa.
