What would you want in family room suite /kitchenette if you were building/ remodeling mommies?
We are remodeling part of our home and I am looking for ideas to make life with a busy family easier. I am having hubby remodel and add to our family room. This space will now hold a kitchenette as well. What are some things in this large space that would make life with a large family and entertaining friends and family easier for you if you were doing this remodel?
We have a huge fireplace already in the space, two large lazy-boy couches and a THEATRE system with surround sound. I am thinking instead of a traditional stove/oven in kitchenette have a microwave built into cabinets and a pizza oven. Hubby is fighting me over having a sink in kitchenette because of plumbing. we have a full bathroom right next to family room (full size kitchen upstairs. ) Table or built in bar more functional? I am trying to compose a list but I really need some help & good ideas. Thanks all!
We do a lot of video gaming, and for something like a Wii or xbox 360 natal you will want a decent amout of space in front of the TV, without having to move around furniture.
I I would also need somewhere to store this equipment, like the RockBand drum set, although the nice thing about something like natal , is you wont need the equipment, or fitness equipment. If I was designing something to last 20 years, I would look at how electronics will transform the living room space in 10 years. (notice how most people now are trying to get rid of entertainment centers that fit old TV's)
The other thing you'll want is lots of plugs, for instance if people bring crockpot buffalo wings.
