I've painted small pieces of wood w/acrylic, how do I dry them in my oven?
I painted some pieces of wood, no bigger than 7x10, the rest much smaller, with acrylic paint. I need the paint to set, cause I put them in my bag and paint scratches of of them. How do I use the oven to do this, like what settings and such?
Do I even need to use the oven, or should I just use some varnish? Let me know, thanks.
I suggest you DO NOT dry them in the oven!
FUMES!
You are supposed to have adequate ventilation when painting. You BETTER, have more than adequate ventilation if using varnish!
1.Even Acrylic latex paint gives off fumes. Let's say you come back later, and fix some food in this oven. The food will have a tainted taste of the paint.
2.I'm willing to bet, that heating the paint, and the residual fumes left behind, will cause some harm when mixed with food.
Varnish. Perhaps, you should read this page about varnish on Wikipedia.org,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varnish
and this page about the hazards associated with varnish,
