Ideas for more homemade recipes for a 2 yr old?

I cook lots of casseroles, bakes, pies etc, which my 2 yr old enjoys.

However I want to make dinners that are more 'meat/fish, potatoes and veg', rather than all mixed in a bake or casserole.

I can only think of things like chicken nuggets, pizzas or burgers with chips/jacket/mash and veg/salad. My daughter will eat fish and chicken, however tougher meats such as lamb she tends to have cut up into smaller chunks, so I doubt she'd eat it unless it was in a stew or pie.

What do you tend to cook your 2 year olds? I have about 15 different recipes full of veg, with fish, chicken or meat, pasta or potatoes, plus she goes to nursery 2 days a week whilst I work.

Should she be eating food that is 'separated out' into meat/fish, potatoes and veg?

She eats her dinner in bite sized chunks, and it's not pureed in the slightest.

Hi, I have twin girls aged 22 months and like you I don't want them to live on nuggets, pizza etc.

I try to give them what I'm having - e.g. grilled chicken breasts with mashed or new potatoes and veg, or those frozen square fish portions you can get - I have 2 squares and they have 1 each. They also love gammon steaks (unsmoked obviously!), with new potatoes, broad beans and parsley sauce.

Another favourite at the moment is a ham and cheese omelette, they wolf it down and it only takes 5 minutes to make.

I do give them beef and lamb but in a casserole because as you said, they are a bit too chewy otherwise, and I use pork mince for spaghetti bolognese - a simplified version with just tomatoes, herbs and mushrooms in the sauce, as neither of them like onion very much.

I'm lucky in that both of them are good eaters and not fussy at all although they do have different tastes - Daisy loves fruit and veg while Lily is a real carnivore!

Anyway sorry to ramble on (as usual!), hope I've helped a bit!
