What Can Be Better Than Homemade Bread?

I think when I ask you this question: "what can be better than homemade bread?" you will probably answer "nothing." It is a fact; I think that we all agree that the smell of freshly baked bread cannot be surpassed.

Many of our grannies still make tasty breads and buns the old fashioned way. They spend hour kneading and letting the dough rise until it is just right. I have to admit a rather like the smell of the yeast as it is doing its work in the dough, but it really is very hard work.

Of course, the modern times we live in there are easier options that produce the same tasty homemade bread just as granny used to make. It is easier and though not really faster, you can carry on while the machines do their work.

Basically there are three options:

1. Most stand mixers these days have a dough hook and it can be used to knead almost all kinds for dough. It is easy and it produces really very good results. One of the advantages of a stand mixer, of course, is that it can be used for more that making bread.

2. Your second option is a food processor. It is surprising how many food processors these days are capable of making bread dough and you are almost always assured of a satisfactory result.

3. For me though, the best option is a bread machine. These breadmakers are really amazing. Most of them are programmable and you simply add the ingredients, press a few buttons and that is that. A few hours later you can return home to the smell of freshly baked bread!

What I find so good about these breadmakers as well is the huge variety of bread you can bake with it. You can really experiment to your hearts content as soon as you know the basics.

I do advise you to stick to the recipes at first until you know your machine. Once you are confident it is the time to start experimenting. Do not be disheartened if not all your experiments is successful, most of them will be and it is great fun coming up with new ideas!

As far as I am concerned a breadmaker is not a luxury. Bread is such a basic food that we eat every day; it should be freshly baked and tasty.
