I am looking for the recipe of the white kebab sauce that is poured over kebabs in sweden?
at most of the kebab husets... they pour a white sauce.. over kebabs and pizzas and falafels... i have been looking for its recipe for a long time... can anyone out there please help out ?
thanks
Marcus - i understand that kebabs are not swedish.. when i was an exchange student in sweden., i had kebabs and pizzas at middle eastern places which are all over sweden.. there they used to pour some whitish sauce over their kebabs and pizzas... and this was particular to sweden and norway.... so yes... they are not swedish... but the sauce i had there was wonderful....
The swedish white kebab sauce is not quite tzatziki, but you could start there. Make it with blended sour cream and mayonnaise instead of yoghurt would get you a good bit further.
What I usually use at home: Plain old creme fraiche with a bit of garlic, salt and pepper. Light creme fraiche, but only because it's not quite so thick: but then each pizzeria has their own recipe, some make it thin, and some thicker, some much more garlicky than others.. I like the thinner garlicky one myself
Here's several recipes, all variations on a theme:

Or my favourite (fanta?) to read, although I didn't dare try it yet:
*Turkisk yoghurt på hink är basen (stora yoghurthinken används ofta även att blanda med)
*Lite sesampasta
*Mayonäs (Mycket mayonäs)
*Ajvar Relish
*Spä med Fanta (Jo du läste rätt)
*Rosmarin
*Chilipulver och salt
(shout up if you need any help translating that)
