what are the brown specks in banana bread?
I made banana bread in my bread machine with these ingredients:
eggs
butter
milk
mashed bananas
bread flour
sugar
baking powder
baking soda
salt
All of the ingredients were fresh and appeared normal, but the bread (which tasted and smelled normal) had little dark brown specks in it, and I'm not sure what caused them. The specks were of irregular shape, and about the size of poppy seeds. They were evenly distributed, with about 5 to 10 of them per square inch. Any insight you have as to the cause would be appreciated, I'm very curious.
It's the banana. When it's cooked it turns that color. Like how you leave an open banana out and then like 10 minutes later it turns black. That's what that is.
