
Does anyone have a low fat whole wheat pizza crust recipe?
I have not made pizza crust in years. Looking to make some so I can prepare meals and freeze them, as I never have time to cook when I get home . . .but want to eat healthy. Do not want to buy crust as I have allergies and the sodium in them is crazy.
You can use this stuffing idea or just use the dough to your preference , just thought I would throw it in there .
Wheat Crust Stuffed Pizza
1/2 lb. ground meat
1 onion
1 c. mushrooms
1 tsp. italian seasoning
2 c. mozzarella
8 oz. pizza sauce
1/2 tsp. oregano
Wheat crust
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. water ( 110 F. )
1 tsp. sugar
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. bread or all purpose flour
1/4 c. rice flour
Crumble meat , onion and mushrooms in skillet over med. heat . Add seasonings
In small bowl dissolve yeast in water , add sugar . Stir in flours one at a time , knead 5 min. Cover and let rise 30 min. Divide dough into 2 parts . Grease a 12 " pan and press half dough into pan , building up sides . Cover with meat mixture and 1 c. cheese . Roll out second half of dough and cover meat and cheese , then prick the dough . Spread with sauce , oregano and remaining cheese . Bake at 450 degrees F. for 20 min.
