Cooking In A Wood Fired Oven

How big is a lamb when butchered?

I want to cook a whole lamb, and need to know it's dimensions - its length, and basically its circumference, including any legs that might be sticking out.

Maybe I'd have to cook it without legs to make it fit my wood-fired oven? I'm pretty sure I can accommodate the length, and am planning on having a giant basting tray made for it to slide in and out of the oven when needed.

Cheers.

Talk to your butcher since it would depend on how old the lamb is.
A newborn lamb is not much bigger than a new born infant, not including the legs.
