Do I need a mixer to bake bread?

My daughter wants me to show her how to bake bread. I don't have a mixer - but I'm pretty sure I don't need one. Can someone confirm - bonus points if you supply a recipe for a great loaf of bread I can make with my hands!

No, you can do it by hand. The mixer helps yo uto mix the ingredients and knead the dough for you. But, doing it by hand is just as good.

Knead until the dough becomes elastic (you can stretch it thin without the dough breaking..thin to the point that light can pass through it).

Then let it rise for a very hours and then bake it.
