Different Pizza

When did Papa John's pizza become "different" than it used to be?

There are some of us who remember when Papa John's pizzas were light and airy, with a more pan-like look. Does anyone know when Papa John's pizza started to look and taste ordinary? I swear it has looked different for years but no one I know seems to know why. Is it a franchise change?
