Home Bread Making

Before buying a new Bread Maker, here´s what you need know!

If you are looking to buy a new bread maker there are a few things you might want to know, and find useful, before you go out and spend your hard earned money.

Bread makers come with many different functions programmes besides just making bread. But, and perhaps most importantly, the first thing you might want to check is its size.

Will it fit on your kitchen worktop? Is there enough room underneath your wall cupboards to allow you to open the bread maker´s lid? That might sound like a silly question, but not as silly as getting a bread maker home, setting it all up and then finding you can´t open the lid. Some of these bread machines can be quite tall!

Then you need to look at what the machine can and can´t do. Do you really need it to make jam? Do you want to make a lot of different breads, or even cakes? If the answers to these questions are no, then there is no point in spending a lot of money on an all singing all dancing bread maker when all you want it to do is bake a plain white loaf a couple of times a week.

Bread maker machines have developed a long way over the years. Today you can expect a lot of different programmes and functions, all designed to make your life easier. But you still have to match a machine with your requirements.

You might only want to make a small loaf at the weekend, but a few large loafs through the week. Check to make sure the bread maker allows you the option of making either a small, medium, and large loaf. Nowadays most do!

Do you like your loaf to be nice and crispy or do you like a nice soft loaf? Some machines allow you to choose whichever you want.

Do you like the idea of waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread each morning. If you do then make sure the machine you are looking at offers a timer delay facility. If it doesn´t then it´s not the one for you!

Also check to see if you can do a rapid or quick bake. This is brilliant function if you come home from work and find you are out of bread. I can guarantee you might not use this program often, but you will be glad of it at some time!

Perhaps you are someone who wanst to make a lot of different variety breads, like naan bread, whole wheat bread or even fruit loaf. Check to make sure the machine you are looking at allows you to do this.

Some machines like the Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker even come with an ingredients dispenser which will open automatically and dispense the ingredients at the correct time during the bread making cycle. It also has a very handy viewing window and internal light so you can easily inspect the bread as it is in the baking process. All very useful!

These days we have all become far more health conscious and want to know what we eat is additive-free. Making your own bread is one of the best ways of doing this!

For those who need a gluten-free or high-fibre loaf of bread, the Panasonic SD-257WXC Bread Maker will easily accommodate that need. And, if someone in you family suffers from high blood pressure, or needs to keep an eye on their diet, there is also a facility to control the amount of salt and sugar used in each and every loaf.

The choice of bread makers in todays market is vast, and so also is the difference in price, so you need to choose the one that does everything you want but at a price you want to pay.

I hope you have found this article interesting and will help you in choosing the right bread maker for you.
